Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, until well combined.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, until everything is just combined. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Let the cakes cool in the pans for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

In a large mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream and powdered sugar together until stiff peaks form.

Place one cake layer on a serving plate, then spread a layer of the whipped cream on top. Repeat with the second layer of cake and whipped cream.
