Made with a combination of ground beef, beans, tomatoes, and spices, this one-pot wonder is a staple in many American households.

Ingredient

1 lb. ground beef, 1 onion, 2 garlic cloves (minced), 2 cans of diced tomatoes, 1 can of kidney beans (drained and rinsed), 1 can of black beans (drained and rinsed)

1 can of tomato sauce , 1 tbsp. chili powder, 1 tsp. cumin, 1 tsp. paprika, 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper, Salt and pepper to taste

Instruction

In a large pot or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain any excess fat.

Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the pot and cook until the onion is soft and translucent. Add the diced tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, and tomato sauce to the pot.

Stir to combine. Add the chili powder, cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper to the pot. Stir to combine.

Bring the chili to a simmer over medium heat, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for at least 30 minutes (or up to 2 hours) to allow the flavors to meld together.

Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Serve hot with your choice of toppings.

Tip

Spice it up: If you like your chili extra spicy, increase the      amount of cayenne pepper or add some diced jalapeños to the mix.

Add more vegetables: You can add other veggies to your chili, such as bell peppers, carrots, or celery, to increase the nutritional value and add more flavor.
